The media landscape is constantly changing, with the advent of all kinds of new business models and content packages. This includes advertorials or native advertising, which is paid content laid out as articles in the same style as editorial content – only clearly labelled as sponsored.

The benefit of advertorials is that they are built on the tried and trusted article format, but you can take more liberties because it is paid content. Many of the company’s own messages or product reviews can be included – something that would normally be filtered out in news articles. However, there must still be a good journalistic story and angle.
